Today, two days before schools starts up again- we decided to take the kids school shopping for some shoes, possibly some new outfits and school supplies.
Sounds pretty normal, right?
Well, when you have one child on the spectrum , it doesn’t always go as planned.
And today, I was reminded.
I was reminded you have to realize behavior is communication.
I was reminded that I was given a child to protect from himself.
I was reminded that I have a little girl who still doesn’t understand why her brother acts that way.
I was reminded I have a husband who is apart of this team.
I was reminded that sometimes plans change, and you have to adapt.
I was reminded that I have people I can talk to about it.
I was reminded that he doesn’t act out to be mean, or vindictive. He acts out to tell me something isn’t compatible with the way his body inputs sensory stimulation.
We were able to finish school shopping with just the girls going later, daddy taking him the next day for shoes, and online shopping (THANK GOD FOR ONLINE SHOPPING).
Bring on the new school year!!
