Hi.

My name is Meg, I'm 43 years old, and I have decided to blog (again).

So, let's get started! Here are five things about me and what this Substack will be about.

1. I've Blogged Before. (A brief history)

When I was a little girl, I had a diary with a lock and key that I wrote in often. Writing became an outlet then, and in my tween years, I moved up to an electronic diary that resembled a small computer combined with a phone. It was pretty cool.

In my late teens/early 20's, I created a LiveJournal. Blogging there allowed me to be a cringy adolescent (in public!) and to meet my husband. (Awww!) I also connected with many different types of people, able to keep up with IRL friends before Facebook, and blogging became a way of life. I am glad I documented that part of my life, Even if it was super cringe.

When my kids were little, I took the next logical step and made a 'Mommy Blog'. For about 3 years, I was a 'Mommy Blogger', and I thought it was successful. I wrote about being a new mom, my kids, and, my family life. I made many mommy blogging friends that, I am still friends with now. It was fun. I had a community cheering me on. I connected with others like me and supported them back. It was great.

Then life happened and, I decided to shut it down to focus on other more important things. (Which I don't regret, and will write about later)

Blogging has always come naturally to me. I like writing, and I still write physically in a notebook as an outlet for my brain. But, something was missing - I miss the community that comes along with blogging. Recently, a lot of the OG mommy bloggers who are my age were reminiscing about the good old days of blogs just being a personal outlet to find your people. So, they started writing that way again - and thus, this new blog has been born.

2. I am a Neurodivergent person, raising a Neurodiverse Family

While I won't write about my family without their consent, I can write about my experiences while growing up in a world that wasn't made for our brains from my point of view. With late diagnosis becoming more and more common with women and men my age and older - I am learning a lot about myself that I think others would relate to, and it's important for people like us not to feel alone. I know I'm not alone.

3. I've lost 30+ pounds, and I am working on my mental health goals!

My late 20's and 30's were spent being overweight, stressed out, and not treating myself very well. Then, I turned 40 during the pandemic and did what a lot of us did - got traumatized and soothed with food and alcohol.

Last year, I was diagnosed with Metabolic Disorder, long haul covid, prediabetes, and PCOS. That was a wake-up call, and I have been working on myself physically and mentally for the last year and a half.

I'm not an expert, or even where I want to be with my health but I would love to share what I have learned about sustainable lifestyle changes and mindset and support others' health journeys.

4. I am an Artist, Maker, and all around Creative Being

Creativity has always been a big part of my life. It's my therapy, sometimes it's an occupation, and I'm always full of ideas. It's one of the things that attracted me to my husband (he's an artist, a musician and always trying new creative hobbies) It's spilled into my children's lives, who are always stretching their creative muscles through writing, painting, making things, and more. It's a daily thing, and when I go without it, my life quality suffers. I want to write about creativity and how you can incorporate it into your life too!

5. I can't deny my inner child, and I am Xennial Geek Lady

I know how to code (and have made money from it).

I love technology and living in "the future".

I think 3D printing is so much fun.

Movies and books are my jam. (I love stories!)

I am nostalgic as f***. I have adult money and I am not ashamed of collecting old toys, and Funko pops from favorite TV shows/Movies.

I love video games and have a lot of consoles.

There's no shame in indulging your inner child and rediscovering the joys of youth!

How's that for an about page?
